Lake Erie Institute

Founded in 2016, the vision of Lake Erie Institute is to offer holistic environmental education experiences that foster ecological awareness, identity, spirituality, community and leadership to help restore balance between people and our planetary home.

LEI, the acronym for Lake Erie Institute, also stands for the core goal of our work: learning (or re-learning) to Love Earth Intimately. As we love Earth, we love ourselves, and this love inspires us to care for all of life on Earth from a place of sacred reverence. Through this love we find paths toward healing in our own lives, in our communities, and for the planet.
Living Spiritual Ecology with Liz Meacham

I am a spiritual ecologist in residence at Kelly’s Working Well Farm. It’s the first time I’ve heard of such a thing and I’m happy to be trying it out! I’ve had a variety of multi-faceted connections with Kelly and the farm since 2013. This endeavor is a free love offering to the farm community.

As a spiritual ecologist committed to the land and community of the farm, my goal is to relate to the land in what we might think of as “spiritual” ways. There are many reasons why creating spiritual connections with the places where we live are important. One essential reason is that being with any land in a sacred way is to act on behalf of the Earth through remembrance and restoration of relationship.

My intention is to support and complement the many endeavors happening at the farm through family-friendly nature meditations, many kinds of ceremonies, and spiritual and holistic healing modalities adapted for land healing work. I am at the farm most weeks getting to know the land and working with the many interwoven intelligences of nature that live there through a variety of spiritual practices.

Starting in the spring, I will offer ongoing opportunities for people to learn land-connecting and land-healing skills. Look for updates on opportunities to get involved!
